Don't know if this is the most appropriate place to put this...
Anyway, today I focused on the bear system rushing strikes, as I have been for a little while now.
Standing -signature bear posture -rushing posture
Striking Stationary drilling method -stamping rushing -piercing rushing -covering rushing -wiping/scrapping
One step drilling method -stamping rushing 1-wiping open, supporting hand stamp strikes 2-covering pressing then stamping, same hand -piercing rushing 1-wiping open, then striking from outside 2A-covering pressing, then striking from inside 2B-advancing same hand/foot, also opposite hand/foot -wiping/scraping 1-same hand/foot 2-opposite hand/foot -covering rushing 1-same hand/foot 2-opposite hand/foot
Forms -Lying step rushing -Reversing the body rushing
Kicks -point bending -angular point bending -knee bending -arching/rising stomp -forward stomp (treading on?) -climbing/side stomp
Today's focus was mainly on hand and foot harmony, getting a shorter blunt force into the rushing strikes, and visualization of the applications. No turning today because I'm sick, and I'm trying to get a serious sweat going to run this cold out of my system. If I had more time I'd try to turn a little but I had class this morning and work this evening so time is limited.
I'd love to hear what others are working on.

I've bearly (pun) glanced at that system. Sounds like fun! Roughly about how much time do you try to put into each of these? Do you have a set training block, or do you squeeze them in however you can throughout the day?
Sucks about the cold; hope you can clear it out! I rarely get sick, but when I do, I view it as a challenge, and usually approach it with the mentality of "burn that shit out". In those cases, I actually tend to focus more heavily on the representative Lion standing posture (I primarily practice Lion), and it seems to help enormously. Maybe that's just me, though. If I recall correctly, it does help to kick start qi circulation, so maybe that's why. I'm not really an expert on that stuff though.

Mostly I devote a block of time to training. Sometimes if I only have x amount of time I will train y amount of time later that day if I can devote a second block of time. Usually about 30-40 reps of a specific strike or kick per training method, unless I'm varying something like the supporting hands involvement.

Hey guys!
I thought your thread about training discussion was a good idea, so created a new category and moved it here! Use this space to post any ideas or training records you have!

Hi All
Thought I would add my training regime as I'm always updating it.
I'm sure everyone has different time pressures therefore finding the time to train and importantly making that training good quality by being focused on your movements can be tricky.
My main style is phoenix therefore given some of the comments on the board i'm making sure that's my foundation (simply as its a still I feel able to apply and feels right) though i am also spending some time with lion dragon and bear once a week and seeing how it works with phoenix. I train at the moment about 4 times a week for an hour at a time and circle walking around 5 times a week for around 20 mins (goal is to increase that!). I like using an interval timer as if i'm training on my own it keeps me honest!
Warmup- run through all the phoenix strikes then a circle form combing all 8. - 8 kicks practiced in stepping then circle form.
striking practice- 3 mins fixed 3 mins 1 step 3 mins 2 step 3 mins 3 step for whichever palm i'm working on i.e dodging
2 forms form chosen palm- 5 mins slow 3 mins power 2 mins flow
go through some visualized applications.
I vary things so i will add that over time. Im also planning to go to the intensive in London so will work on those aspects as well.
good training all !

Good evening all - My training starts off with static postures of each animal. Then walking the basin for 15 minutes then flows into Circle walking Phoenix or lion or dragon. I'll walk this 30 minutes to one hour depending on time. Strikes. Its alternating animals a day. lion, bear or Phoenix. Single step and two step. Three step I'm still working on so I don't rip up a knee or ankle. If there is time, I like to add other isometric exercise maybe old fashioned push ups. I train outside rain, or sun, cold or heat. This past Saturday was a cold rainy day, still trained eventhough I couldn't stop shivering for an hour later. Still fun. I got mad because husband insisted I get out of the rain. I'm having so much fun with this art form, its hard to stop.

You should go through the Basic Luohan Patting exercise for about 10 minutes after practicing in damp cold weather to prevent the cold from setting-in.
