遠用手 近用肘 到用肩
"When you are far, use the hand. When close, use the elbow. When you have arrived, use the shoulder."*
快用手 穩用肘 狠用肩
"When you require speed, use the hands. When you require stability, use the elbows.** When you require viciousness, use the shoulders."
------- -------
Translator's notes:
*This can mean: 1. When you are at point-blank range with the opponent's torso, use your shoulder to strike him. Or, 2. When the opponent's hand reaches your torso, you can remove/trap the threat with your shoulder, then lash back out with your hand(s).
** Stability is not just a defensive characteristic of one's roots & structure, but an offensive characteristic as well. Proper use of the elbow empowers the entire forearm, from the elbow itself to the tips of the fingers; this allows you to exert "hidden force" to control & weigh down upon the opponent.
