I am planning on adding Luohan patting to my regular health / development practice. I have seen Andrew's video on traditionalstudies.org and am wondering if anyone here has any comments on how to make this part of regular practice? Should the full 45-min sequence be done once a week? 3x a week? can it be condensed into a 30 min pat-down? Can we break it down into some meridians / patterns on day 1, others on day 2?

Not sure I ever took 45 mins to go through the set I learned, possibly it was a different variation that the one your referring to. I use to do a patting routine upon completion of turning pretty regularly, maybe 10-15 mins. I don't really worry about most things non-martial these days however. I usually just gently shakeout and loosen up or stretch lightly a little after training. I prefer to spend what time I have on gaining martial development through training strikes, postures, forms, turning, applications, and combinations of the like.
If interested I would suggest doing a couple of the exercises before of after turning or standing. At the beginning or end of your training. As to daily or not that would just depend on how much time you have and level of interest.

I do patting a few times a weekafter training and usually keep it to about 15 minutes like myles does. I would focus on patting the organs and spend Xtra time on any areas that may be sore or Injured. If you want to focus on meridians as part of a Daoyin practice I would recommend doing a longer practice more often. As with all practices preformed with YSB, the more you practice the more you will understand how, why, and when to do the practices when you need them to recover from illness and injury and also to help those around you. But, you can't understand it unless you put the time in. Maybe follow along with Andrews videos for a few weeks and pick out the parts you are most interested in and make it your own, then go back after a few months and see if there is anything to further build upon. I really like patting the head when I need to focus or tired. Pat the abdomen when there is stomach issues or lower abdomen when constipated or having loose stool. Pat the lungs after a cold, etc. Good luck and let us know how it goes!
