I find the penetrating strikes from the bear system very interesting. I've decided to start to focus on penetrating and carrying for a while after spending several months mainly focusing on rushing. Penetrating into, threading through, and wedging are all different names I've heard for this attack method. It's a unique concept, the hand strikes into emptiness, into the holes, or openings around the opponents limbs. Meeting the opponent, blocking off, binding, tying up, breaking, throwing, directly striking. Grinding, and pressing. I've also seen it used as a stab, or as an extension of force. It seems like a very versatile attack method and I'm quite intrigued to learn more.

Tweaking things slightly to keep them interesting and possible help gain different perspectives of things. I have been messing with applying bear strikes with the guys I train with in DC/VA area combining the withdrawing step methods with the rushing strikes hands. Also covered penetrating and carrying but adding in leaning strikes as follow up attacks. Both carrying and penetrating seem to put you in good relatively close range positions for leaning strikes. We also looked at some areas within lion attacks that contain close range body placement that could be utilized to carry out leaning attacks. Looking at how the shoulder is added in to attacks, and thinking about how we could also use an elbow at mid ranges.
