Aloha, my name is Keoho and I am live in Hawaii. I have had a attraction to this system ever since the videos first came out but I did not have enough understanding of things to understand the system. This lineage has a a very different feel from Cheng Styles and even from the other Yin Styles (that I've seen). Something has kept me coming back to it. A year ago, I made a commitment to start training the system even though there is no one in Hawaii to train with. I had a hard time getting started because I felt very awkward in the movements. None of the animal systems felt right. But at the end of this summer, a video of Master He demonstrating the Bear System clicked something in my brain and it all seemed to make sense. So thatʻs where I have started. The Bear System was the last on my list to train ,but now it is my first, and it is helping me understand the other animals and the system as a whole. I am a traditional Hawaiian healer and make very little money so I wonʻt be making any seminars anytime soon, but I am very happy on my solo journey. This forum is truly a blessing for me and I know will be for all the other seekers. Thank you for all the time and hard you all put in to promoting and keeping alive this crucial art. Mahalo nui loa! I have many questions and am looking forward to any glimmer of light I can extract from all of your knowledge. Again, mahalo nui loa (Thank you very much)! And if by chance anyone is traveling to Hawaii or has some time to kill on a stop over (to or from Beijing), let me know. Good fortune to all, Keoho

Welcome Keoho! Glad to hear that you've found some inspiration and a system that suits you! I think the vast majority of us have been at that point, of being the only guy interested in YSB for miles around. A lot of people started the same way, with just the videos, and a few of us have been lucky enough to train with folks who have gotten some genuine, hands-on transmission. The hardest part of that situation, I've found, is staying motivated. It's hard to do when you don't have a teacher or fellow students on hand to push you. Just keep going!
I remember that when I first started working with the videos, all of the movements were difficult, if only because they felt really counterintuitive. That gets easier with familiarity and attentiveness to the details of the practice. It actually took me a while to figure out how to use the waist to power the movements in the Lion system, but by carefully observing exactly what He Jinbao was doing with his body, it eventually just clicked into place. In an art like this, where there are always deeper levels to discover, you always have to keep looking.
Good luck, and keep at it!

snk, thank you for the welcome and your encouragement. Great to know there are others who have gone through and are going through the same issues. The support is truly appreciated. I believe that the more of us "outliers" come out of the woodwork, that the YSB web will create more connection between each of us and the distances between us will become small and easier to cross. This forum is definitely that start.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
